There are five components that must be present for successful list building.

You must have items to induce the visitor to surrender the data needed, a name and email address. This usually will be an eBook, tips for a certain knowledge of a subject,or some other beneficial information. This knowledge will usually take the form of a short email series , a periodic newsletter or an electronic web tool useful for that marketer’s business. It can be just about anything the marketer wants, needs or somehow perceives will benefit him or her.

These free offerings usually take the form of a squeeze page, sometimes
referred to as a landing page designed to solicit an opt-in email address, prior
to the visitor gaining access to your web page.The free goods offered may
be for free from some on the internet getting your e-mail address for their
list.

Remember what prompted you to give needed information to be on someone
else’s list There are some offering templates or other methods of obtaining a squeeze page for you. You will then need an auto responder to capture your visitor’s name and e-mail address and send emails. You will have the information and/or products you are willing to share for that information.
It depends on the site’s traffic. The pertinent thing here is to know enough about your visitors to know what they want sufficiently to give the information and receive emails with offers from you.
You must also give them an easy way to opt-out. You  never want them to feel trapped. This is also closely related to the next thing, trust. It should not need to be written, but I will write it. The information product you contribute needs to actually be useful to your visitor, not just fancy wrapping paper. Keep in mind you need their trust. You want at some some point to sell them something.

In summary, to be successful in building a valuable list you will need:

1. An effective squeeze page
2. A free product with some value
3. An auto responder
4. You visitor’s trust
5. Easy opt-out option

If you have all these essentials in existence you will be on
your way to successful list building.
